A second class time has been added on Monday. This class is for 5 - 12 year Olds. Choir is 12:00 - 1:15 and Drama is 1:45 - 3:00
We are currently meeting at the Shingle Springs Community Center.
Jubilate Choir
Younger students (8yrs and younger) meet with Miss Lydia for music foundation and developmental skills, taught through games and singing, separately the first 45 minutes.
9yrs - High School work, with Miss Cindy, on classical choral music in 4-part harmonies. The students study a varied repertoire and musical styles.
The young people come together for the last 15 minutes and learn some fun pieces that are accessible to all.
Included in our choral program is the opportunity for parents to prepare a musical piece for each semester's performance.
Jubilate Choir has two performances each year, at Christmas and in the Spring.
The Obadiah Players
Drama finishes our day, with theater skills, skits, improve and working together on a spring play production. Sometimes the entire group does one play, with all involved in a meaningfully education process, and other semesters we opt for several smaller plays to give students a chance to experience ensemble theater. It is our goal to do worthy, appropriate theater that brings classical literature to the stage. We emphasize excellence, teamwork, responsibility, creativity and commitment. Our productions are top level theater experiences, and we strive to bring excellence to each aspect of the performance: acting, sets, costumes, lighting and framework. The children always amaze us with their creativity and excellence!
Commitment
As with any endeavor of importance, we expect our families to commit themselves to our vision of excellence. Attendance is mandatory, with the understanding that life sometimes prevents our best intentions. Working on music and play lines at home is a strict requirement for the students in order to maintain the level of growth and personal accomplishment that makes our group so remarkable. We expect parents to be available for limited volunteer time during performances and to participate in parental support activities i.e., repairing costumes, folding programs, selling tickets, etc. With this level of commitment to working together to provide an excellent performing-arts program for our students, we can achieve amazing things together!
Fees and other requirements
It is our goal to keep our classes affordable for the homeschooling community. For those paying out of pocket, our classes are extremely manageable, with a multiple child discount. We have recently gone through the process of becoming a vendor for several charter schools. This process required much effort on our part and added complexities to our program. Because of this, we have set the fee for charter school children at a rate more competitive with other organization and we do not give multiple child discounts. We appreciate the need and desire of families to pay with charter school funds, but the reality of making this available requires us to set a higher fee for these families. Thank you for understanding.
Please contact our secretary, Kelly Richards, for details on the fee structure. [email protected]
